Power Potatoes
The Mighty Power Potatoes were created by Bryan Turner, Ryan Harwell, and I in 1995 as a parody of the popular Mighty Morphin Power Rangers television show. The story centers on three fifth grade elementary school aged children, Bryan Turner, Ryan Harwell, and Evan Stewart, who are chosen by an alien potato creature, Couch Potatoe, to defend the earth and the universe from the clutches of the evil and villainous Sweet Potatoe.
Originally, some other classmates created characters as well, but soon all other students lost interest in the characters and only Bryan, Ryan, and I continued the story. The Power Potatoe story began as a jointly created comic book story line which spawned into a sequel, over which Ryan and I had the most creative influence. Currently, I am the only creator who continues to develop and create the Power Potatoe story line and universe; Bryan and Ryan continue to hold joint creative credits.
While I am aware that "Potatoe" is misspelled, when the name was created (5th grade) I was unaware that the word "potato" did not include an "e". The "e" has remained ever since as a unique type of branding for the characters. Click to view samples.
